    CURATORS CHOICE

    MIRRORARTIST

Regina Jokubaitis known as the MIRRORARTIST is an artist whose work often explores themes of identity, memory, and perception. Her art tends to be reflective, both metaphorically and literally, as she frequently incorporates mirrors and reflective surfaces into her installations. These elements create dynamic interactions between the artwork, the environment, and the viewer, challenging perceptions and encouraging a deeper introspection.

Jokubaitis’ work often plays with the concept of duality, inviting viewers to consider both what is visible and what is hidden. Her use of mirrors not only reflects the viewer but also fragments and distorts the image, creating a dialogue about the nature of reality and self-perception.

Her sculptural painting/installations can be immersive, enveloping the viewer in a space that is as much about personal reflection as it is about the external world. By manipulating light, space, and reflection, Jokubaitis creates an experience that is both physically engaging and mentally stimulating.

What are the primary concepts and focus of your art and how do these ideas relate to your

    medium, and creative process itself?

While my artworks do not conform to any specific genre or specific style, the utilization of mirrors as a canvas conveys individuality. Original creativity in oils invites the art lover's reflection and lighting to become a part of the art! Apart the millions of canvas works available, only my artworks can offer such a unique abstract expressionism experience!

What advice would you give to your past or future self?

Pursue something totally unique, thus commanding a worldwide audience!

When the audience sees such intuitive works as yours they are often immediately curious

about the environment the works are created in. What is the most indispensable item in your

studio and why can’t you live without it?

    Mirrors all over the place!

    What is your dream project?
To create a piece so original that it would cause a record high auction price!

What do you wish to communicate to the audience and viewer?

My "individuality art" suggests the art lover to think outside the box. If one cannot simply accept a repurposed mirror as a canvas, then no worries . . . fine art paper and canvas are still readily available!

What trait do you most admire in a work of art? What trait do you most despise?

I am very pleased that I did not listen to others about expressing original creativity onto mirrors and am honored that my "New Age Mirror" artworks have embraced such a "buzz" in the artworld. I I do not acknowledge negativity!

Jokubaitis’ work often plays with the concept of duality, inviting viewers to consider both what is visible and what is hidden. Her use of mirrors not only reflects the viewer but also fragments and distorts the image, creating a dialogue about the nature of reality and self-perception.

What is the last exhibition you saw that made an impression on you and why?

? I have never been to an art exhibition and very rarely do I view other artworks. I believe this keeps my originality and creativity solely my own! I am self -influenced divulging pieces of myself to the world as my own personal auto-biography.

How does the studio environment influence the way you work?

My studio//home is like being inside my mother's womb, Growing, being nurtured, and waiting for the exact time to face the world, just as my art career is developing!

What kind of atmosphere do you prefer when you work? Do you listen to music or podcasts,

or do you prefer silence? Why?

I live in my studio. With mirrors all over the place, I paint when I feel inspired!

Which of your works stands out as a highlight, a favorite, or a significant point in your creative growth and development? and why?

All my artworks are my favorite for different reasons! I would say. "Jackpot Frenzy" the original oil on mirror yet unreleased, would be my thus far most successful because it resonates with a worldwide audience!

Which artists are you inspired and influenced by?

As a tween in the early 70's my mother a gypsy, introduced me to the gypsy witch cards and astrology. During this time period Peter Max's interputation of the zodiac was made available as a centerfold artwork in the Daily News. His colorful symbolization of the astrological signs really aligned with my mother's teachings of harnessing my intuitive self.

Can you tell us any memorable reactions you have you had to your work?

I am just so excited and honored by all the awards and publications of my "New Age Mirror" artworks and prints.
